It’s been a busy few weeks in London. I started my internship at SharkNinja on the 18th June and it’s been non stop ever since. I’ve been placed in a relatively new team within the company and in my first few weeks I’ve learnt a lot. Everyone I have met while working at SharkNinja has been so lovely and welcoming, really helping me to settle in and get stuck in.
SharkNinja is a company that prides itself on producing high performance, high quality products that are innovative and challenge current markets. The designs move rapidly and the company place a big emphasis on gaining consumer input and insight. As a result life at SharkNinja is fast moving and sometimes chaotic creating an environment where some thrive and others struggle.
I’ve been thrown in head first doing testing, designing, prototyping and relearning CAD software Solidworks. I’ve had to challenge my understanding of concepts, learn about new concepts and apply what I’ve learnt at university. Each day has been filled with something new and presented different challenges for me to overcome and push myself.
I’ve started a list of things I’ve learnt which I can carry forward into the rest of my studies and into my career. One thing on this list which I think is useful is never be afraid to ask those with more experience for help, they were in your shoes once.
Evenings have been spent going for drinks with colleagues and training for my half marathon with weekends filled with long runs and exploring as many sights as possible in London.
I can foresee the next few weeks being as busy and packed full as the last four.
